JOIN INDIAN AIR FORCE – BECOME AN AIRMAN


Indian Air Force offers opportunities for unmarried male Indian citizens from all the Districts of State of Tamil Nadu, Union Territory of Puducherry, Karaikal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands to become an airman. The Recruitment Test for Group 'X' (Technical) trades and Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {For Auto Technician and Indian Air Force (Police)} trades will be held at Anna Sathya Stadium, Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu) from 12 February 2012 to 17 February 2012 as per the Selection Programme given below.

SELECTION PROGRAMME. The Recruitment Test will be conducted from 7 am onwards every day as per the details given below. Candidates reporting up to 10 am at the Rally Venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Test.


ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
3. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION(a) For Group 'X' (Technical) Trades. Candidate should have passed Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent examination with Matermatics, Physics and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
OR
Should have passed a 3 years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical or Electronics or Automobile or Computer Science or Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology) with at least 50% marks in overall aggregate from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute.
(b) For Group 'Y' (Non-Technical) {For Auto Tech and IAF (P)} Trades. Candidate should have passed Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent examination with Science, Arts or Commerce subjects or equivalent Vocational Courses with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Vocational Course should be recognised by Association of Indian Universities.
OR
03 years Diploma in any stream of Engineering from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute.
Note : - Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects as mentioned
in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate or 10+2/equivalent (For example, 49.9% should NOT be rounded
off to 50%). Vocational Courses conducted by CBSE and Kerala Board recognised by Association
of Indian Universities (AIU) are only eligible.
4. AGE LIMITS. Candidates should be born between 01 JANUARY 1991 to 31 MARCH 1995 (both
days inclusive).
5. DOMICILE REQUIREMENT (a) To be eligible to appear in the rally at Anna Sathya Stadium,
Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu) the candidates must have passed the qualifying examination from the recognized Board of the State of Tamil Nadu or Union Territory of Puducherry or Andaman & Nicobar Islands OR should fulfill the domicile requirements as applicable to the following:-
(i) State of Tamil Nadu and Union Territory of Puducherry - (Domicile Certificate issued by Taluk Tehsildar or any Offical authorised by the State Government of Tamil Nadu or Union Territory of Puducherry only will be accepted). (ii) Andaman & Nicobar Islands - (Domicile Certificate issued by SDM/DM/Executive Magistrate or any Offical authorised by the State Government of Andaman & Nicobar Islands only will be accepted).
(b) Sons of Serving/Retired/Discharged/Deceased Air Force Personnel, irrespective of their domicile status may be permitted to appear in the rally subject to submission of Son of Air Force Personnel Certificate as a proof in the following categories:- (i) Father/Mother is presently serving in any Air Force Unit located in the State of Tamil Nadu or Union Territory of Puducherry or Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
(ii) Ex-IAF personnel/families of deceased personnel who are residing in the State of Tamil Nadu or Union Territory of Puducherry or Andaman & Nicobar Islands(on production of proof of minimum stay of one year and Original and one photo copy of discharge book).

JOB SPECIFICATION.
(a) Group 'X' (Technical) trades involves technical jobs like
(i) Automobile Fitter. In this trade you are responsible for maintenance and repair of all types of light and heavy duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment etc.
(ii) Electronics Fitter. As an Electronics Fitter you operate and maintain Radar, Voice and Data transmission and reception equipment mounted on latest airborne weapon delivery systems and ground based air defence systems.
(iii) Electrical Fitter. You will maintain power supply system of latest types of aircraft, airborne missiles and associated ground systems. You will also maintain photo equipment mounted on air borne weapon systems and operate ground based photo system.
 (iv) Mechanical System Fitter. You will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles aircraft fuelling equipment.
\(v) Structures Fitter. As Structures Fitter you are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components and controls of aircraft.
(vi) Propulsion Fitter. In this trade you will repair, maintain and prepare for use the propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery system.
(vii) Workshop Fitter (Smith). You will undertake major structural repairs of all aircraft at central repair facilities.
(viii) Workshop Fitter (Mechanical). You will undertake repair and maintenance work of mechanical nature.
You will be trained in workshop trade and practices. (ix) Weapon Fitter. In this trade, you will prepare, maintain and service armaments, ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles and other weapon delivery systems.
(b) Group 'Y' (Non-Technical) {For Auto Tech and IAF (P)} trades involves jobs like
 (i) Auto Technician: As an Automobile Technician you will carry out minor repair and service, maintain and drive all types of vehicles, cranes and automobiles.
 (ii) Indian Air Force(Police): In the position of Indian Air Force (Police) your responsibilities involve
assuming police duties and investigation of offences. You are also in-charge of maintenance of security.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
14. VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY. Original Certificates/Mark Sheets and other required documents {NCC 'A', 'B' or 'C' Certificate, Son of Air Force Personnel Certificate (SOAFP)} etc will be scrutinized and verified at the examination venue on the days of written tests before the commencement of the written test.
SEQUENCE OF EXAMINATION
15. WRITTEN TEST. Written test will be objective type and question paper will be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English Paper. Duration of the written test will be 60 minutes for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades and 45 minutes for Group 'Y' (Non-Technical){For Auto Tech and IAF(P)} trades. Written test will be conducted in the following subjects:-
(a) For Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades : English, Physics & Mathematics as per CBSE syllabus of AISSCE.
(b) For Group 'Y'{For Auto Tech, : English as per CBSE syllabus of AISSCE and IAF(P)} Trades and Reasoning & General Awareness
(RAGA).
CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY. Results of the written test will be declared on the same day.
