The Institute is located about 160 KMs north-west of Kolkata on the Howrah-Delhi Main Railway – Route and overlooking the National Highway No. 2 (the great Grand Trunk Road). The Institute spreads over an area of 187 acres of land. It is fully residential and co-educational. NIT Durgapur has all the facilities of world class academic institute. The campus layout is having picturesque landscape with clean and wide roads and pathways. The campus provides  all essential amenities for community living. Staff and Faculty Clubs, Shopping Complex & Canteen. Health Centre, Bank, ATM, Post Office, Play Ground etc. At present about 3000 boys and 500 girls reside in seven boys` hostels and three girls` hostels. The annual undergraduate intake is more than 900 students.
General Conditions
The Institute reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason. The prescribed essential qualification & experience are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number of applications received in response to advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible for the Selection Committee to interview all those candidates. So, the Screening Committee for the Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of desirable qualification and/or experience prescribed in the advertisement as per the specific recruitment of the Institute. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview/selected for appointment. CANVASSING IN ANY FORM WILL RESULT IN DESQUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATURE. Legal disputes, if any, with National Institute of Technology are restricted to Durgapur Court Only.

All reserved category candidates shall be required to submit attested copies of the latest (not older than six   months form the closing date of the advertisement) Cast certificate issued by the competent authority (not below the rank of SDO/SDM) as per Govt. of India directives issued from time to time . Similarly, PWD candidates shall be required to submit proof of Physically Handicapped category issued by the competent medical authority.
Candidates called for the interview will be reimbursed to and fro railway fare limited to Second Class / Sleeper Class by the shortest route as per rule.
Application form may be downloaded from the institute’s website http//www.nitdgp.ac.in which may be submitted with necessary fee of Rs.600/- for OBC Candidates in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favor of Director , NIT Durgapur payable at  SBI, R.E. College Branch , Durgapur -713209. However, SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from paying any application fee.
Applications will be received up to 30th April 2012. The institute reserves the right to reject any or all applications or it may amend any of the clauses above as per orders of the competent authority/Govt. of India. Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected and no communication in this regard shall be entertained.
