AIRMAN (IAF) CHHATTISGARH - NEW STADIUM KABIRDHAM

1. Indian Air Force offers opportunities for unmarried male Indian citizens from the
State of Chhattisgarh to become an airman. The Recruitment Test for Group 'X'
(Technical) trades and Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Trades :{Except Auto
Technician, Ground Training Instructor, Indian Air Force (Police) and
Musician} will be held at New Stadium Kabirdham (Chhattisgarh) from
12 December 2011 to 17 December 2011 as per the Selection Programme given
below.

2. SELECTION PROGRAMME. The Recruitment Test will be conducted from 7 am
onwards every day as per the details given below. Candidates reporting up to
10 am at the Rally Venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Test.
Note : - The Recruitment Test is not for selection as Officers/Pilots/Navigators.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
3. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
(a) For Group 'X' (Technical) Trades. Candidate should have passed
Intermediate or 10+2 with pass marks in Matermatics and Physics with a
minimum of 50% marks in overall aggregate.
OR
Should have passed a 3 years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical or
Electrical or Electronics or Automobile or Computer Science or
Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology) with at least 50%
marks in overall aggregate from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute.
(b) For Group 'Y' {Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF (P) & Musician} Trades. Passed
Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent examination with Science, Arts or Commerce
subjects or equivalent Vocational Courses with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
Vocational Course should be recognised by Association of Indian Universities.
OR
03 years Diploma in any stream of Engineering from a Government recognised
Polytechnic/Institute.
Note : - Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects as
mentioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate or 10+2/equivalent (For example, 49.9%
should NOT be rounded off to 50%). Vocational courses conducted by CBSE and
Kerala Board recognised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are also eligible.
4. AGE LIMITS. Candidates should be born between 01 JANUARY 1991 to 31 MARCH
1995 (both days inclusive).
5. DOMICILE REQUIREMENT (a) To be eligible to appear in the rally at New Stadium
Kabirdham (Chhattisgarh)the candidates must have passed the qualifying
examination from the recognized Boards of the State of Chhattisgarh OR should
fulfill the domicile requirements as applicable to State of Chhattisgarh (Domicile
Certificate issued by Tehsildar / Nb Tehsildar or any Offical authorised by
the State Government of Chhattisgarh only will be accepted). (b) Sons of
Serving/Retired/Discharged/Deceased Air Force Personnel, irrespective of their
domicile status may be permitted to appear in the rally subject to submission of Son
of Air Force Personnel Certificate as a proof in the following categories:- (i) Father/
Mother is presently serving in any Air Force Unit located in the State of Chhattisgarh
(ii) Ex-IAF personnel/families of deceased personnel who are residing in the State
of Chhattisgarh (on production of proof of minimum stay of one year and
Original and one photo copy of discharge book).
6. MEDICAL STANDARS
(a) General Medical Standars for both Group 'X' (Technical) Trades and
Group 'Y' {Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF(P) & Musician} Trades are as follows: -
(i) Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cm. (ii) Chest: Minimum range of
expansion is 5 cm. (iii) Weight: Proportionate to height and age. (iv) Corneal
Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable. (v) Hearing: Candidates should have normal
hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear
separately. (vi) Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14
dental points. (vii) Health: Candidates should be free from medical or surgical
deformity. He should be free from all communicable diseases and skin ailments.
Candidates must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of world, in
any climate and terrain.
(b) Visual Standards for Group 'X'(Technical) trades and Group 'Y'
{Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF(P) & Musician} trades are as follows: -
* Candidates should bring latest prescription and spectacle for corrected vision,
if used. The prescription must bear the signature, stamp and registration
number of Eye Specialist.
7. Candidates discharged from the Armed Forces on any ground or dismissed
from any Government Organisation for any reason earlier are NOT eligible
to appear in the rally.
8. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED. Candidates are to bring the following documents along
with them while coming for the examination:-
(a) HB Pencil, Eraser, Sharpener, Gum tube, Stapler and Black/Blue Ball Point
Pen for writting. (b) Seven copies of recent (taken on or after 12 September
2011) passport-size colour photograph (front portrait, without headgear except
for Sikhs). Photographs should be only on good quality “photo paper” and on Light
Background. (c) Two unstamped self addressed 24x10 cm white envelopes of
good quality. (d) Original and three photostate copies of all educational certificates,
mark sheets and Domicile Certificate as well as NCC certificates (if applicable).

PAY & ALLOWANCES
10. PAY & ALLOWANCES. During training, a stipend of Rs. 8,550/-pm will be paid.
On completion of training, starting gross emoluments including Dearness
Allowance (DA), at the minimum of scale of pay for Group ‘X’ (Technical)
trades will be Rs. 19,546/-per month (approximately) and for Group ‘Y’ {Except
Auto Tech, GTI, IAF (P) & Musician} trades will be Rs. 16,092 /-per month
(approximately) which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rs. 34,493/-per month
(approximately) for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades and Rs. 30,395/-per month
(approximately) for Group ‘Y’ {Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF (P) & Musician} trades
as per sixth pay commission depending upon the rank attained. Other allowances
such as transport, Composite personal maintenance allowance, Fly/PJI allowance,
Family planning allowance, GCB+Class pay, HRA etc are also admissible to airmen.
11. JOB SPECIFICATION.
(a) Group 'X' (Technical) trades involves technical jobs like
(i) Automobile Fitter. In this trade you are responsible for maintenance and repair
of all types of light and heavy duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment
etc. (ii) Electronics Fitter. As an Electronics Fitter you operate and maintain Radar,
Voice and Data transmission and reception equipment mounted on latest airborne
weapon delivery systems and ground based air defence systems. (iii) Electrical
Fitter. You will maintain power supply system of latest types of aircraft, airborne
missiles and associated ground systems. You will also maintain photo equipment
mounted on air borne weapon systems and operate ground based photo system.
(iv) Mechanical System Fitter. You will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic
and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles aircraft fuelling
equipment. (v) Structures Fitter. As Structures Fitter you are responsible for the
maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components and
controls of aircraft. (vi) Propulsion Fitter. In this trade you will repair, maintain and
prepare for use the propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery
system. (vii) Workshop Fitter (Smith). You will undertake major structural repairs
of all aircraft at central repair facilities.(viii) Workshop Fitter (Mechanical). You
will undertake repair and maintenance work of mechanical nature. You will be trained
in workshop trade and practices. (ix) Weapon Fitter. In this trade, you will prepare,
maintain and service armaments, ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles
and other weapon delivery systems.
(b) Group 'Y' (Except Auto Tech, GTI, IAF (P) & Musician} trades involves
jobs like
(i) Admin Assistant. As an Admin Assistant, you will maintain and analyse records,
file, information of personnel. You will also manage ration supplies, Cook Houses and
Messes. (ii) Accounts Assistant. As an Accounts Assistant, you will record and
manage accounting of pay & allowances, equipment, logistics transactions, public
fund, cash flow etc. (iii) Medical Assistant. You are made familiar with nursing
and first aid.(iv) Logistics Assistant. As a Logistic Assistant, you are involved in
the procurement, storage and handling inventory control as well as accounting of
military stores. (v) Environment Support Services Assistant (ESSA). This job
involves maintenance of Fire Fighting section. It also requires that you ensure the
upkeep of hygiene of Air Force Campus.(vi) Ops Assistant. As an Ops Assistant,
you will operate various systems of Air Traffic Control Centre, Air Field and Air
Defence System.(vii) Communication Technician. As a Communication Technician
you will operate, sevice and maintain all type of state of the art communication
devices, telephone exchange and radio equipment. (viii) Meteorological Assistant.
If you are a Meteorological Assistant, you are trained to undertake weather observation
and to maintain meteorological instruments.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
12. VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY. Original Certificates/Mark Sheets and other
required documents {NCC 'A', 'B' or 'C' Certificate, Son of Air Force
Personnel Certificate (SOAFP)} etc will be scrutinized and verified at the
examination venue on the days of written tests before the commencement of the
written test.
SEQUENCE OF EXAMINATION
13. WRITTEN TEST. Written test will be objective type and question paper will be bilingual
(English & Hindi) except for English Paper. Duration of the written test will be 60
minutes for Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades and 45 minutes for Group 'Y' {Except Auto
Tech, GTI, IAF(P) & Musician} trades. Written test will be conducted in the following
subjects:-
(a) For Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades : English, Physics & Mathematics
as per CBSE syllabus for AISSCE.
(b) For Group 'Y'{Except Auto Tech, : English as per CBSE syllabus of
GTI, IAF(P) & Musician} Trades AISSCE and Reasoning & General
Awareness (RAGA).
CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY. Results of the
written test will be declared on the same day.
14. PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST (PFT) . All candidates who pass the written test are to
undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PFT consists of
a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes. Candidates completing the PFT in
less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks on a sliding
scale. Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts.
15. INTERVIEW. Candidates who have passed the written test and PFT will be interviewed.
Interview is normally conducted in English. Working Knowledge of English is thus
essential.
16. TRADE ALLOCATION TEST (TAT). Candidates of Group 'X' (Technical) trades who
qualify in interview are to undergo Trade Allocation Test (TAT) for bifucation into
Mechanical and Electronic stream. Specific trade allotment within these streams will
be carried out at Basic Training Institute (BTI), Air Force Station Belgaum (Karnataka).
17. MEDICAL EXAMINATION . Candidates who qualify in the interview will be medically
examined. Medical Examination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per
Indian Air Force medical standards. Candidates declared Medically Unfit can avail the
option for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) against their Unfitness by depositing Rs. 40/- in
a Government Treasury/RBI/SBI through Military Receivable Order (MRO). The application
for AMB along with original copy of MRO, Xerox copy of Unfitness Certificate and
Postal Stamp worth Rs. 25/- affixed on a self addressed envelope are to be submitted
to 15 Airmen Selection Centre, 35 Shyamala Hills (Bhopal) for processing within
seven working days from the date of issue of Medical Certificate.
Note: Candidates are also advised to get tartar and stains removed from
their teeth before appearing for the written test. Ears should be free of
wax. Candidates should be prepared to stay for the test for four to five days
under their own arrangements. No TA/DA will be admissible.
18. PUBLISHING OF ALL INDIA SELECT LIST (AISL). The All India Select List (AISL),
will be displayed at No. 15 Airmen Selection Centre, 35 Shyamala hills, Bhopal
(M.P) on 31 JANUARY 2012. A copy of the Display List will be sent to District
Magistrate of Kabirdham (Chhattisgarh) (through Airmen Selection Centre) and
also will be available at Indian Air Force website http://www.indianairforce.nic.in/. The
inclusion of names of the candidates in the AISL depends upon the performance of
the candidates in the Rally and number of vacancies to be filled.

the successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent fortrade
training of specified durations. Training is however liable to be terminated at any
time trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical
fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit. After successful completion
