Age:- There is no upper age limit to apply for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

Application Fee: Fee for the TET examination:- 500/- (Five Hundred) for General category candidates and 200/- (Two Hundred) for reserved categories such SC,ST,OBC,BPL/IRDP, Ward of Freedom Fighters and Ward of Ex-servicemen.

How to Apply : Applications in prescribed proforma, are invited for the following posts so as to the reach the Secretary Himachal Pradesh, Subordinate Services Selection Board, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) - 177001 by 17/10/2011. The last date for the candidates residing in Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Pangi and Bharmaur Sub-Divisions of Chamba district and Dodra kwar Sub-Divison of Shimla District of HP is 31/10/2011 by post only for the eligibility for the posts of Trained Graduate Teacher (Arts, Non-medical, Medical), Shastri and Language Teachers.

Date of TET Examination:- Tentative dates for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examination are 27th November, 2011 for TGT(Arts) morning session (Non-Medical) and TGT(Medical) evening session and 4th December, 2011 for Language Teacher morning session and Shastri evening session.

Examination Centre:- The TET examination will be conducted in all the District Headquarters except district Lahaul & Spiti

Applications from the eligible candidates are invited on the application format appended as
Annexure-“A” in the advertisement as per the scheme conveyed by the Director Elementary Education
Government of Himachal Pradesh vide letter No. EDN-H(2)B(2) 3/2011-Requisition dated 02.09.2011 for
the eligibility for the posts of Trained Graduate Teacher(Arts,Non-medical,Medical),Shastri and
Language Teacher. The application forms complete in all respect should reach to the Secretary,

accordance with NCTE (Recognition norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time
to time in this regard.

c. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in
Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
OR
d. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year B.A.Ed.
OR
e. B.A./B.Com. with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) Special

Shastri with 50% marks from an institution/University recognized by H.P. Government.
5. For Language Teacher
BA with Hindi as an elective subject from a recognized University with 50% marks in
Hindi or its equivalent.
OR
The candidates who have passed Prabhakar (Honours in Hindi) followed by BA
Examination in English and one additional subject may be treated as equivalent to BA
with Hindi for appointment to the post of Language Teacher provided the candidates
have secured 50% marks in Prabhakar examination.
OR
M.A. (Hindi) with 50% marks from a recognized University.
Relaxations in minimum eligibility :-
shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, Other
Backward Classes & Physically handicapped candidates.
Candidates appearing in final professional examination can also apply but they shall have to full-fill
minimum eligibility conditions on the date of TET examination falling which they will not be allowed
to take the test.
Relaxation upto 5% in the minimum eligibility criteria of marks
Minimum qualifying marks:
- The minimum qualifying marks in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is 60%.
Validity of Teacher Eligibility Test qualifying certificate:-
valid for appointment for 7 years from the date of issuance of TET certificate. There will be no
restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a TET certificate. A person
who has qualified TET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

Standard of TET The test items on child psychology, development, pedagogy and
teaching learning processes will focus on educational psychology

of teaching and learning relevant to the age group 11 to 14 years.
They will focus on understanding the characteristics needs and
psychology of diverse learners, interaction with learners and the
attributes and qualities of good facilitator of learning.
The questions in the other sections will be based on the topics of
the prescribed syllabus of the State for classes VI to VIII, but their
ability standard as well as linkages could be up-to 10+2 level of
HP Board of School Education.

Instructions
The candidates are advised to read carefully the following instructions before filling in the
application format.
1. The candidate should attach self-attested photocopy of following certificate/degree etc.
i. Education qualification such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, Shastri, Prabhakar, Post Graduation,
B.El.Ed etc. indicating detail marks.
ii. Professional qualification such as B.Ed., B.Ed. as per NCTE (Recognition norms and
Procedure), LT etc.
iii. Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, EX-Serviceman, Ward of Ex-
Serviceman, Ward of Freedom Fighter, Physically Handicapped, Visually Handicapped,
BPL/IRDP etc.

2. Recent passport size photograph of the candidate affixed in relevant column of the application
format and admit card.
3. Married daughters/grand daughters are not covered under ward of freedom fighters and ward
of ex-serviceman category.
4. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes and Ward of Freedom Fighters
certificates should have been issued on parental basis.
5. The validity of OBC certificate is two years from the date of its issuance, the candidates are
required to furnish the valid certificate in support of his/her claim.
6. In case an applicant intends to appear in TET for more than one teaching category/subject
he/she shall have to apply on separate application forms for each category
7. The candidate must fulfill the requirement of passing the academic as well as professional
qualification on or before the submission of application form. However candidates appearing in
the final professional examination can also apply but they shall have to fulfill minimum eligibility
condition on the date of TET examination failing which they will not be allowed to take the
test/examination. Such candidates are required to produce the proof of having passed this
examination to the centre superintendent on the date of the TET examination.
8. The applications received without these documents & examination fee etc. and incomplete in
any respect including unsigned one shall not be entertained and rejected outrightly.
9. The application format and admit card is appended as Annexure-‘A’ with this advertisement and
candidates are advised to apply on this format only on A-4 size paper. Candidates can download
this format from the webpage http//himachal.nic.in/hpsssb. Applications received in any other
format except the Annexure-‘A’ will be rejected outrightly.
10. No interim correspondence will be made and entertained by the Board with the candidates at
any stage till the examination process is over.
11. Candidates should also attach one self addressed envelop of 9”X4” (inch) size alongwith
(Six) postage stamp pasted on it with the application form.
